Probate

You may have heard the term “probate” before or even known someone who’s had to go through the probate process, but you still may not have a clear understanding of what exactly it involves. Probate is a court supervised procedure for ensuring that the debts and expenses of a person are paid after their death, and that their estates are properly distributed, regardless of whether that person died with a valid Will. Many of Ms. Long’s clients are surprised to learn that, in many cases, probate is altogether unnecessary. Even when the Court must be involved, there may be other, less expensive options to consider. Ms. Long will discuss all of these options with you during your initial consultation.

Ms. Long recognizes that probate and estate administration can be an emotional, difficult and complicated process. She provides the counsel needed to complete the probate or trust administration process in a timely and efficient manner and makes certain that clients are fully informed and guided every step of the way. Ms. Long advises and represents beneficiaries, executors, administrators, personal representatives, trustees, heirs and interested parties throughout East Tennessee.
